Decatur Creek Pays The Meeting House Stage a Visit in July

In July the Meeting House Stage is held on the third Friday of the month rather than on the second Friday. July 19 was a scorcher in Rindge. The entire week was oppressively hot. But we had a decent sized crowd, a good group of open mike musicians, and an up-and-coming local trio, Decatur Creek. It was a great night, even for the mosquitoes, who came and dined in droves.

Ray Sierkerski opened the show with a couple of classic 70s pop covers, Goodbye Norma Jean and Celluloid Heroes, and then played one of his own songs, Love Dub. After that Ken Durand played Continue reading

Jerry Wile Wows The Crowd In June

Jerry Wile, June's Feature Performer

Jerry Wile, June’s Feature Performer

The rain did not let up all week, but by Friday morning the weather was looking up, and it was a beautiful day for the Meeting House Stage. Watching this event grow month by month has been an absolute pleasure. We have so far raised almost $1000 in much needed funds for the Rindge Historical Society, and it’s truly wonderful to have live music again at the Meeting House.

Since none of the other musicians signed up for the opening slot, I started things off playing three of my own songs, “These Are The Hard Times”, “The Vasectomy Song”, and I finished up my set with “Let’s Play One More Round”. Ken Durand was up next, and played his song “Laura Bridgeman”, followed by “I Can’t Work Out Today Blues”. Then he brought his brother Dan up on stage, and they did a beautiful tune about the Underground Railroad, with Dan providing very nice harmony vocals.

After Ken’s set, Peigi Chace and Steve Rapson took the stage. Continue reading

A Full House For Nate Smith!

Feature Performer Nate Smith

Feature Performer Nate Smith

On May 10, a beautiful day with no threat of snow, we had our best turnout yet at the Meeting House Stage. Our feature performer Nate Smith, along with a full slate of open mike musicians, gave us a great evening of live entertainment.

First up was Ray Sierkierski from right here in Rindge. Ray lives so close to the Meeting House that he can walk over if he chooses. He did a great job on a pair of covers, Jimmy Buffett’s He Went to Paris and Adele’s Someone Like You, and then he treated us to an original song, Presence of An Angel, that he wrote along with his wife Kate.

After that Ken Durand came up and played three of his own songs, It Takes Sunshine and Rain, Stronger Now Every Day, and A Wild Ocean. John Roper and Deb Northway followed Ken with a beautiful version of Continue reading
